Regular exercise is extremely important to staying healthy inside and out. Too many women are not working out as often as they should, because we are worried about messing up our hair. Since we all know it is very important for overall health to stay active, SoftSheen-Carson Artistic Style Director Johnny Wright has few tips to help you maintain your hairstyle and health of your hair during your work out.
  1. Always start with well-conditioned hair. Healthy hair is the key to a great style. Use a deep conditioner like SoftSheen-Carsons Roots of Nature Reconstructing Deep Treatment, which uses natural shea butter and green tea to promote strong healthy hair. Conditioning your hair weekly will prepare your hair for your weeks workout.
  2. If you wrap your hair at night, keep your hair wrapped and tied with a silk scarf during your work out. Do not unwrap your hair until after your shower. Make it almost the last thing you do. This will allow your scalp to completely dry; then let your wrap down and style hair, using a pea size amount (a little goes a long way) of SoftSheen-Carsons Roots of Nature Strengthening Oil Moisturizer to replenish that shine and lock in the hairs moisture!
  3. If you dont wrap your hair at night, wearing your hair in a ponytail while you work out, is also a great way to maintain your style. (1) Make sure that your scalp is lightly moisturized the night before; using a light oil treatment like SoftSheen-Carsons Roots of Nature Stimulating Scalp Oil. (2) In the morning, place your hair in a nice tight ponytail (not too tight) adding a drop of oil treatment to your ends, tuck in your ends and begin your work out. (3) After your work out, make sure your scalp is dry and then take out your ponytail and style as usual.
  4. There are also exercise-friendly style options i.e. going natural (kinky or curly), braids, twist and straw sets. Whatever your choice natural or relaxed always remember condition, condition, condition. Keeping your hair and scalp regularly moisturized will keep your hair healthy, strong and prepared for your active lifestyle.
